There is only one thing people can control. Take some time to think about this because realizing the answer will greatly help you in life. Oh yea, there is no such thing as security. People have learned to provide others with the illusion of security and, in doing so have been able to make a lot of money off others. Don’t fool yourselves, you’ll make it easier for others to fool you.

WHAT IS THE ONLY THING PEOPLE HAVE CONTROL OVER?

i was just wondering cuz i need double a batteries and my smoke alarm has some and i dont think theres going to be a fire in the next 5 mins but if it goes off my dad will get mad at me…

Is there a way to tell if someone has been using my wireless network when I am not home? Is there a way to find out who and what they were doing? I think my xwife has been parking in my driveway when I am at work just to use the wireless - is she spying on me? Can she?

This is not intended as an insult. I see many liberals complaining about being charaterized as socialists, but it seems to me that many of the policies that most liberals seem to favor are of a socialist nature because they revolve around greater government control and the redistribution of wealth. (Welfare assistance, Social Security, Universal Health Care, opposition to tax cuts, etc.). Being called a socialist is not the same as being called a communist, although I will concede that some conservatives seem to incorrectly equate them as being one in the same. Again this is not intended as an insult, I am just honestly curious how you classify these particular types of views to be anything else and how you see yourself if not as a socialist. Please do not provide the "it’s the right thing to do" answer. I understand why you feel the way you do, just not how you classify yourself. All decent answers will be considered, insults and bashing will be ignored.
Semper Fi Reborn: The things I mentioned are examples of redistribution of wealth. This is at the core of the socialist doctrine. Again no insults are intended and I am not questioning whether the intentions are good. I choose to accept that most people have good intentions no matter what their particular political viewpoint might be.

How do you use a webcam as security camera to watch your house, or to just catch those moments that would have been missed cause you didn’t have your camera ready to go?

The started by just beeping every couple of minutes. Then, one will beep 3 times, and the rest will each beep 3 time in "response". When I say beep, I mean like sirens are going off. Then they move on to chirping during which you wish you didn’t have ear drums.. I’ve replaced all of the batteries (twice) and it is still doing it. I have tried resetting each of them and that doesn’t work. I’m ready to rip them out of the ceilings. How can I get them to stop?

Alarm goes on as soon as I try and give it throttle and will not shut off until I turn the key off. It is a steady alarm. Water circulation looks very good. What all does the alarm cover?

I think I need to get a video surveillance system for my house. What are the different types of video surveillance?

(sorry for the caps, I just wanted to catch attention because this is an urgent question).

Recently three apartments in my complex have been broken into, and they were all robbed. So far, nobody has seen the perpetrators.. so they are out free and breaking into homes whenever they catch the opportunity.

I know some people are thinking "Just get a big dog", but I cannot. I am expecting my first child in May and I cannot afford, spend the time on, or find a dog that will be great with an infant and be low maintenance as well as a great guard dog. I looked, but in the end I was not able to find a dog that would be good for my family.

Anyway,

If anyone knows any great wireless alarm systems that do not cost very much (no more than ), are VERY loud, and would be great for doors (mostly the front door).. PLEASE let me know.

Thank you very much.

(ps. no rude or sarcastic comments please. Also, I am not shouting when I use caps.. please do not get offended.)

… do you jump up and down and wave at the camera and start yelling, "LOOK! LOOK! I’M ON TV! CHECK IT OUT! WOOOOOO! I’M ON TV! I’M ON TV! HI MOM! WOOOOOO!"?

I work for ADT Security Services.
My job is to go out and knock on peoples doors and find those who are interested in a free alarm system for their home, with installation include. There is a activation fee and they have to pay monitoring fees of about - per month.

How can I find local people that are searching for something like this without having to knock on doors. I really want to generate sales without having to knock on doors.

More like people calling me interested to join instead.
Please help.

Thank you in advance.

I live outside of Cincinnati and I am shopping for a home security system. I have been reading consumer reports and reviews about ADT and Protect America. Protect America would be more affordable with equipment costs, but I want to make sure that whatever system I get actually works. Anyone have any suggestions on these or other companies?

Like, where can I find some information about, say, how much they cost, ethical issues, pros and cons, etc?

recently had a security system put on my home which uses wireless sensors. in less than a week, my remote controls for my digital cable box and tv are not working as they should. I have to be about a foot or so away from the cable box for it to work and when it does it only works for a few seconds. Replaced cable box remote with a new one and still the same thing. any help would be greatly appreciated on what to do or who to call.

Well, it may sound silly but I am interested in creating a security officer firm ( or a security officer company ) I have a decent amount of money to start out with, I just dont know how to go about getting the lisence to be able to create my own security officer bussiness. I live in Florida If that helps any, Can anyone help out, maybe someone knows a link I can go to or perhapes a number or anything that can help out. Thanks guys ( and if you are a type of person to leave immature comments than keep them to yourself, it only makes you look bad)

We don’t pay for the system to work anymore.
It beeps every 3 seconds until I put in the password.

It is not possible to unplug it without tearing it off the wall and breaking it.

I purchased some X10 equipment (home security, from X10.com) while in the States, to use here in Austria, Europe.

Most of the equipment is wireless, but the "Console for DW7000 Security System" is 120v, 60 Hz, 6 watts.

1) Will X10 equipment designed for 120v, 60Hz environment work in a 230 v, 50 Hz environment, with a transformer?

2) I have a Step Down Coverter (model LLD50U, mfr?) that says: "Output: 110/120V AC 60Hz for Electric Products up to 50 Watts, to be used with all fax machines Panasonic, Toshiba, Canon, Sharp." Is that an appropriate transformer for my needs?

Thank you!

I’ve got a wireless router, and i like to keep my wifi unsecured, because I have a Wii and DS, so the highest security I could use would be WEP which I’ve tried and it makes my connection a lot slower. So I figured as long as I turned off file sharing on my desktop I could leave my wifi unsecured. The problem is to disable file sharing you need to have the Windows firewall on. I have Norton Internet Security 2009, and whenever I put the Windows firewall on, the Norton pops up and says that the Norton Firewall is better and I should keep that on. What should I do?

I am thinking on buying a Video Surveillance System in my house. but is it possible to put moniors in all of my 4 rooms for the same 6 cameras?

I may be leaving my house to another state for a few months unattended. Before I bought my house it was broken into and the pipes were stolen and such. I am also leaving my car so many not even know I am gone and there area isnt the greatest. I have some valuables in the house. So what do you think about the situation and what I should do?

I am looking into getting my own security system but if it went off I wouldn’t be able to turn it off and such or monitor it from another state I do not think. I could probably get a friend in the city of the house to deal with it but is there someway that I could find out because I dont really want to notify my neighbors since I dont know if I can trust them?

So I think maybe getting a security company would be the best idea. I think a motion detecter in the basement and living room should suffice as it is a 3 story house with a garage door to the basement. Or just some alarms on 3-4 doors. I don’t think that is all that much?

What company is the best place to go to get this? Will they monitor it and turn it off and back of if it goes off and I am not around to deal with it? Are there smaller companies that are a lot cheaper then some of the big ones that are just as good? How much a month and for installation and I figure you dont get to own the equipment? Do they make you sign long term contracts or get to your house speedily or depends on your area? Do they have to use a telephone line because I don’t use a landline and once I leave I will be turning off my cable internet?
