Number to get the Free Wireless home security system?
thank you for your help.
I am in the process of purchasing a home security, system and I am getting 4 quotes. The system will be monitor regardless of the type.
what i want is to protect my wireless network so people like my neighbors cant view my computer files from their computers, or connect to my internet if they didnt have any.
I checked out this place. It is the best so far that I’ve seen for Wireless Home Security Systems. http://www.home-security-stores.com/ .
Are there others ?
Thanks !
I just moved into a new house in Atlanta, GA and want to get a security system installed in my house. I don’t want to get a land line if I can help it, so I’d like to get one that is capable of wireless monitoring. I’d also like to pay less than the per month that so many companies advertise, but I don’t want to pay a ton to have it installed, either. And researching this is driving me crazy because no one will just give me a straight answer on what their systems cost to install and monitor! They all want to send out a "representative" (aka, salesperson) to "evaluate my home security needs" (aka, pressure me to sign a contract and spend lots of money). I know what I need, I just want to find out who can provide it and for how much! I cannot take time off work to wait for some stranger to come walk through my house and tell me what I need. Does anyone know of a security company serving Atlanta that offers good service at reasonable prices without playing games?
I read that WEP is not safe, as well as WPA-PSK. It’s costly to have WPA or WPA2 with RADIUS server for home user. VPN would be a good idea, but VPN client software is expensive for Netgear wireless router (the only affordable wireless router with VPN).
So, I don’t know what the decent options are for my under 0 budget. All I have in mind is something with:
- Dual active Firewall (NAT and SPI).
- Intrusion Detection (IDS).
- WPA and WPA2 (PSK type, I guess).
- Ability to disable SSID broadcast and DHCP server.
- Logging feature of clients that request connection.
- Access policy control (support VLAN).
If it’s possible I still want the VPN, but I’m just daydreaming probably. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I just set up my SMC home broadband wireless networking on to my desktop with Window Me Millennium Edition. And I try using my laptop to go in to the network and it work, but it didn’t ask for the passwork. Why? That mean other people can go on to my network too, right? So, please help to protect my network. 911
Tell me step by step, thanks.
My DSL cable goes directly from the wall to the modem, then to the router!
I have an aircard in my laptop and I have wireless adapter for my xbox.
My question is, is it possible to make my network secure like I have it set up? I am thinking not because there is nothing controlling the router…
Or do I need to run the DSL cable from the wall to the modem to a DESKTOP COMPUTER THEN TO THE ROUTER! Im thinking that is the way I have to do this to set up a secure network so that others cant piggyback on my connection…
I really had rather do it the way I have it set up, but am wondering from yall if I can!
Thanks!
What does "you just need to add security…" mean?!?! I dont know what I need and how to hook it up? The "…" is what I need!
THANKS FULLERFYEDS! That worked!!! Im all secured now!!
Hello!
recently i was looking around for different security solution for my home. i’m looking for a wireless solution because i rent the place. what i would need to to do is basically sms (text) me when someone enters my apartment, siren is optional but not that important, computer easy management would also be nice. all the other bells and whistles are always welcome but basically i just need the sms feature and be able to manage it via computer.
what are the options out there?
Thank you!
Is there a way to tell if someone has been using my wireless network when I am not home? Is there a way to find out who and what they were doing? I think my xwife has been parking in my driveway when I am at work just to use the wireless - is she spying on me? Can she?
(sorry for the caps, I just wanted to catch attention because this is an urgent question).
Recently three apartments in my complex have been broken into, and they were all robbed. So far, nobody has seen the perpetrators.. so they are out free and breaking into homes whenever they catch the opportunity.
I know some people are thinking "Just get a big dog", but I cannot. I am expecting my first child in May and I cannot afford, spend the time on, or find a dog that will be great with an infant and be low maintenance as well as a great guard dog. I looked, but in the end I was not able to find a dog that would be good for my family.
Anyway,
If anyone knows any great wireless alarm systems that do not cost very much (no more than ), are VERY loud, and would be great for doors (mostly the front door).. PLEASE let me know.
Thank you very much.
(ps. no rude or sarcastic comments please. Also, I am not shouting when I use caps.. please do not get offended.)
is it possible for a wireless home security system to cause interference with other remote controls?
recently had a security system put on my home which uses wireless sensors. in less than a week, my remote controls for my digital cable box and tv are not working as they should. I have to be about a foot or so away from the cable box for it to work and when it does it only works for a few seconds. Replaced cable box remote with a new one and still the same thing. any help would be greatly appreciated on what to do or who to call.
I’ve got a wireless router, and i like to keep my wifi unsecured, because I have a Wii and DS, so the highest security I could use would be WEP which I’ve tried and it makes my connection a lot slower. So I figured as long as I turned off file sharing on my desktop I could leave my wifi unsecured. The problem is to disable file sharing you need to have the Windows firewall on. I have Norton Internet Security 2009, and whenever I put the Windows firewall on, the Norton pops up and says that the Norton Firewall is better and I should keep that on. What should I do?
ok, I have had my wireless connection set up for a while, I have gone to the 192.168.0.1 and went to the wireless network config page. when the ssid is enabled and the wireless encription key is- not- enabled I can us my wireless on my other computer. but this leaves it open for anyone around my street to access my wireless. BUT when I go and click the box to enable both ssid and wireless security none of the wireless works. ( even the kids psp,ps3 etc)
How do I set this up so that I have full security and have all of my wireless computer/electronics able to connect to internet ( with out having to keep unchecking the -enable- box and leaving out network open to others? I am so confused, and Im betting its something really easy but I am just missing something?
thanks
tried it..doesnt work.
WAP, or WEP?? Do I really need any security for my home router??
Thanks
i have wireless on my laptop and it wont let me connect to anybody that has there security on
I have a home network already set up. 3 computers are using xp pro and one is using vista home premium. I want to secure the wireless connection.
hey everyone-
i just got wireless and i’m totally lost about security. i’m worried that someone will be able to use my internet that i don’t want to use, but i’ve heard good things about WPA security. I also heard about hiding my SSID, but my router doesn’t allow this or it crashes or something and i have to reinstall the software. Anyway, what i’m asking is this: Is WPA2 security enough for my network to stop unwanted intruders?
thanks in advance
oh yea one more thing-
whenever i try to connect to the network, it does not ask for a password…altho it did ask the first time i tried to connect. Is this ok?
sorry one more thing lol-
what is the difference between the security key and the password?

I’m trying to connect my Wireless-G Music to it, and I need the security settings to be the same, but I can’t find them anywhere for the router? Where do I find them?
I am planning to install (Security Camera Wireless) outdoor.
