I’m setting it off in a medium sized apartment with a smoke alarm that I cannot control.

i was just wondering cuz i need double a batteries and my smoke alarm has some and i dont think theres going to be a fire in the next 5 mins but if it goes off my dad will get mad at me…

5 people in New York City died after there was a fire and their smoke alarm was disabled.

what can we do to prevent this from happening again?

maybe the people who make them can cause them to make a very annoying sound if they are disabled

The smoke alarm was in a public school, so I’m assuming it was a pretty good smoke alarm. Could dust cause it to go off?

First and foremost, I want a security system that I can install myself that I don’t have to pay someone to monitor. I want the system to have all of the following features:

Integrated Smoke Alarm
Integrated CO Detector
Glass Break Sensors
Multiple Cameras both inside and out that are accessible via the web
DVR for the cameras with access via TV(s)
Window / Door alarms
A loud siren
Control Panel
Key Fobs
Ability to either email photos or on security breach

Is this too much to ask from a do it yourself system? I am not worried about the cost, but want flexibility in the system that I choose.

hi,
few days ago while i was sleeping, i heard a few loud chirps at timely intervals but i wasn’t sure where it was coming from. The next night, i had stayed up and heard it again, i realised it was my smoke alarm and realised it was a chirp every 45 seconds for around 4-5 minutes each time. I have googled, asked around and i’ve identified that it might have been the battery, i changed it, the red light on the smoke detector then flashed every 10 seconds, but this gradually slowed down. I also heard another chirp. So i changed the battery again and so far i hvaen’t heard any chirps but the red light is still flashing every minute - what does this mean?
Thanks
i’ve already changed a new lithium 9v battery in it - duracell as well :) so is the red light every 1 minute not normal?

I was exercising using a cardio DVD. The last two times I used it the smoke alarm went off. After the first time we changed the batteries, today it happened a second time. There clearly isn’t smoke, the walls by the detector are very cold. Is it a faulty detector, or should I just work out somewhere else.

my smoke alarm was too sensitive to my cooking/burning in the kitchen so i took it down and set it in a high place (on top of my secretary desk). I realize now its upside down, and since smoke travels up.. will it still work?

incense and smoke alarms. can i light incense and have a smoke
alarm in the same room. i know it cant be right under the alarm but can it be across the room. will it work with a fan on. can i do it in a room next to a room with a smoke alarm? anyone?
